Trans-sonic Propeller Stage

چکیده

We follow the approach used by Davies and Pringle (1981) and discuss the trans-sonic substage of the propeller regime. This substage is intermediate between the supersonic and subsonic propeller substages. In the trans-sonic regime an envelope around a magnetosphere of a neutron star passes through a kind of a reorganization process. The envelope in this regime consists of two parts. In the bottom one turbulent motions are subsonic. Then at some distance rs the turbulent velocity becomes equal to the sound velocity. During this substage the boundary rs propagates outwards till it reaches the outer boundary, and so the subsonic regime starts. We found that the trans-sonic substage is unstable, so the transition between supersonic and subsonic substages proceeds on the dynamical time scale. For realistic parameters this time is in the range from weeks to years.

Measurements of Wake Vortices Interacting with the Ground

Although wake vortices are known to decay more rapidly near the ground than away from the ground, the details of the ground interaction are not well understood. Propeller anemometer arrays located under the approach path have been used to study vortex transport and provide some information about the vortex interaction with the ground, such as the generation of secondary vortices via boundary-la...

Fluid-structure interaction studies on marine propeller

Composite propellers offer high damping characteristics and corrosion resistance when compared with metal propellers. But the design of a hybrid composite propeller with the same strength of metal propeller is the critical task. For this purpose, the present paper focusses on fluid-structure interaction analysis of hybrid composite propeller with Carbon/Epoxy, R-Glass/Epoxy and S2-Glass/Epoxy t...

Exploring the Dynamics of Propeller Loops in Human Telomeric DNA Quadruplexes Using Atomistic Simulations

We have carried out a series of extended unbiased molecular dynamics (MD) simulations (up to 10 μs long, ∼162 μs in total) complemented by replica-exchange with the collective variable tempering (RECT) approach for several human telomeric DNA G-quadruplex (GQ) topologies with TTA propeller loops. We used different AMBER DNA force-field variants and also processed simulations by Markov State Mod...

بکارگیری روش المان مرزی در طراحی سیستماتیک پروانه

Propeller is one of the main propulsors for marine vehicles which produces thrust to overcome the resistance of the ship. Propeller works in the place behind the ship where the flow is non-uniform and with three dimensional velocities, so it causes the fluctuating thrust. The first part of this paper employs the boundary element method (BEM) to evaluate and analyze the hydrodynamic performance ...

Performance Investigation of Two Two-Stage Trans-Critical Carbon Dioxide Refrigeration Cycles Ejector and Internal Heat Exchanger

In the present work, the performances of improved two-stage multi inter-cooler trans- critical carbon dioxide (CO2) refrigeration cycles with ejector and internal heat exchanger have been examined. In the new improved cycles, an internal heat exchanger is append to the cycles. Also, second inter-cooler in improved cycles, cooled with the refrigeration of the cycle, so that in first c...
